Tour du Val de Bagnes Stage 1 Le Châble - Verbier - Cabane du Mont-Fort: 8 hours
Start off from Le Châble train station, walk up towards the post office and then continue through the village of Villette alongside the mountain stream (with a chance to admire an old water-mill equipped with a horizontal-axis paddle-wheel). After crossing Le Cotterg via the small Reposoir valley, go up towards Patier as far as Verbier.
From Verbier, walk towards Saint-Christophe, Le Château, the Chutes du bisse and the Marlène plateau, before going up to the Col du Marlène, and then continue towards Savoleyres, La Croix de Coeur and the Col des Mines. Another hike up to the Col du Creblet and Col des Attelas and then walk down to the Mont-Fort mountain hut.
Stage 2 Cabane Mont Fort - Mauvoisin: 6 1/2 hours
After a refreshing night at the Mont-Fort mountain hut, set off towards the Col du Termin through scenery peopled by chamois and mountain goats. You are in the Mont-Pleureur national nature reserve, so respect the fauna and flora that live there.
From the Col Termin, you may choose to go down to Lake Louvie where the mountain hut is located.
The path will take you along the hillside to a place called Le Dâ. You can reach the Col de Sarshlau by first crossing another small pass. From there, you will be able to view the grandeur of the Haut Val de Bagnes region. Then walk down via Le Crêt and the Vasevay with their arching stables towards the road that will take you to Mauvoisin.
Stage 3 Mauvoisin - Cabane Chanrion: 3 1/2 hours
Set off from the Hôtel de Mauvoisin, walk up to the wall of the dam and then cross it in the direction of the Giétro glacier. By crossing the Giétro alpine pasture, after crossing the waters flowing from the Lire Rose glacier, you will reach the Tsofeiret plateau. You will then need to walk down towards the Breney glacier to reach the Chanrion mountain hut where you can rest and recover ready for the next stage.
Stage 4 Cabane Chanrion - Cabane FXB Panossière: 7 hours
Early in the morning, set off from the Chanrion mountain hut towards Lancet. Via the Tsessete plateau, a chamois nature reserve, and then the Pierre-à-Vire overlooking Mauvoisin, you will walk up to towards the Col des Otanes facing the majestic Combins massif. From this mountain pass, constituting the highest point of the entire circuit, you will walk down to the FXB mountain hut in Panossière, where you can enjoy a meal and a rest.
Stage 5 Cabane FXB Panossière - Le Châble: 8 hours
From the mountain hut, cross the glacier towards the Col des Avouillons. On reaching the summit of this pass, walk down across the Sery alpine pasture to reach the Brunet mountain hut.
After following the small road, take the direction of La Treutse and then continue towards the Combe de Servey and then the Combe de Mille and the Mille mountain hut. Cross the Col de Mille, follow the undulating ridge where the path dips lower and lower, walk towards Le Larzay, La Dzeu des Fontânes and Moay. You will arrive near an alpine restaurant called ?Chez Lauriane?.
Finally, follow the direction of Le Mayentzet and the Mayens du Châble, walk down towards Le Châble, and the tour is complete.
